Hotel works with Fire and Rescue Department to spread basic fire-fighting tips

What say you on the issue below?

Hotel Maya, together with the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, recently conducted an emergency and rescue training and fire drill.

The training was held in the hotel premises and included comprehensive information as well as a hands-on session to demonstrate basic fire-fighting methods.

The bi-annual fire drill, which was done the following day, saw encouraging participation not only from the hotel employees, but also the tenants of Plaza 138 and Menara Chan.

Among the parties involved in making the drill successful were the various teams from KL Fire and Rescue Department, St. Johns Ambulance and the traffic police.

Good job: Khirudin (centre) presenting the award to Hotel Maya general manager Danny Goh in recognition of their participation.

The fire drill involved a mock rescue situation of an “injured” guest trapped in the building, while the rest of the employees and tenants assembled at the designated assembly area outside the hotel following standard evacuation procedures.

The exercise was also a memorable one as it marked a milestone achievement for Hotel Maya.

Hotel Maya’s emergency and rescue team (ERT) was the first to be commissioned by the Fire and Rescue Department.

Also present to show their support and recognition of the achievement was the Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman@Hussaini, deputy director (operations) Azizan Ismail and other senior officials from the Fire and Rescue Department.

After the exercise, members of the ERT team were awarded with certificates of participation.
