ABOUT 300-odd members and guests of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort in Petaling Jaya were recently treated to an exquisite dinner at the club’s Grand Ballroom in conjunction with its 18th anniversary celebrations.
The event, which was held in line with the club’s appreciation towards long-staying members and guests, featured a Shanghai Jazz Night with Pahang-born celebrity singer and songwriter Yudi Yap.
Guests were enthralled with Yudi’s performance as she captivated the crowd with her sultry vocals of favourite genre shi dai qu (Chinese oldies).
Yudi, accompanied by four musicians, mesmerised the audience with her repertoire of melodies from the 50s and 60s in a 90-minute show.
Guests also enjoyed the sumptuous dinner spread specially prepared by Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant.
“Since members and guests were mesmerised by Chinese oldies and Yudi’s performance, the resort will continue to host such events with jazz performances in the near future,” said the club’s senior general manager Herman Tan.
It was definitely an unforgettable evening for members and guests as they left the ballroom with fond memories of olden days’ music, with a fusion of Chinese oldies and European jazz.
