HUNDREDS of tourists and locals watched as management staff from Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) rolled out the “Savings All The way” campaign on the ground by riding around the Petronas Twin Towers on bikes that rode on “50-sen coins”.
The 30-minute event was held to raise awareness on the success of its latest Petronas Primax 96 Xtra fuel and educate the public on the superior technology and savings offered by the F1-inspired fuel.
To kick-start the six-day campaign, the PDB cyclists tailed closely a Ford Fiesta powered by the Xtra fuel. The cycling convoy was the latest of an advertising commercial to reach out directly to the public.
The cyclists rode past the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Jalan Pinang to Jalan Binjai and into Jalan Stonor before arriving back at the City Centre’s Park, pleasantly surprising the public along the entire route.
Once back, the wheels were then taken over by professional riders to continue cycling to neighbouring areas such as Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Hang Tuah and Jalan Ampang.
To create greater awareness on the benefits that the fuel provides, the second convoy rode to the Pavilion Mall to spread the message by distributing flyers and coupons, which entitled recipients to free gifts when they answer a question correctly, following a minimum RM40 fuel up at any participating Petronas station.
PDB senior general manager (retail business division) Izuddin Husaini Mohd Yusoff, who led the convoy on the streets, said since its launch in April this year, the fuel has proven to be a real success and they want to share this winning technology with all road users.
“To this end, PDB has been initiating many ways to reach out to its customers and bringing the commercial on the streets is one of them,’’ he said.
He added that the objective of the cycling convoy was to bring to the ground the idea of “Savings All The Way” with Petronas Primax 95 Xtra and the models of the 50-sen coins depicts savings.
“Besides promoting the 95 Xtra fuel, the campaign is also part of our ongoing efforts to reward our customers when they fuel up at any participating Petronas station.
To reach out to a wider group of users, the convoy will continue its ride until the eve of Christmas all around the Klang Valley, stopping by at major malls along the way.
The Convoy will cover Tesco Extra Cheras on Wednesday, The Curve (Dec 23) and Mid Valley (Dec 24).
