THE cheering from excited young children reverberated through the Rumah Amal Cahaya Ampuan Rahimah (Ractar) compound during the Kenny Rogers Roasters’ (KRR) 7th annual Wishing Tree event recently.
Fifty-six children were among more than 1,000 underprivileged children from various welfare homes nationwide, to have their wishes granted by the Wishing Tree event organised by KRR.
The event kicked off with an opening note by Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd senior brand manager Esther Woo, followed by games, prize giving and a photo session.
Besides getting their wishes granted and treated with meals from KRR, the children of Ractar also had a special international figure visiting them.
Abbas Saad, a former Australian international footballer who is also a guest host on the FourFourTwo show on Astro Supersports, shared a few goal-scoring tips and took part in games with the children.
Abbas who has played in the Malaysian League said: “The KRR Wishing Tree is a wonderful campaign that ensures these underprivileged children experience the joy of year-end festivities. It is heart- warming to see that Wishing Tree has taken place for seven consecutive years, reflecting the generosity of Malaysians and KRR’s commitment to the campaign.”
Each KRR outlet is fully accountable for the home that they have chosen in the CSR initiative. This simply means that the outlet managers along with their team are fully responsible for the public participation drive, wishes and delivery.
Woo said: “As it is running for the 7th successive year now, the success of this campaign is a clear reflection of Malaysian generosity. Every year we see an increase in the number of children which benefits from Wishing Tree, as more KRR restaurant managers and team members commit to be a part of this annual KRR Community Chest campaign.”
The KRR together with GO Communications Sdn Bhd, will be running this Wishing Tree Campaign until the middle of this month.
