Orang asli children get early Christmas treat and presents

TIS the season to be jolly for the orang asli children in Kampar as they celebrated an early but fun-filled Christmas.

A charitable organisation named Living Hope threw them a Christmas party at the Toy and Books library (TBL) in Kampung Batu Berangkai recently.

To thank the volunteers and wish them a happy holidays, the orang asli children performed a few songs for their guests before enjoying lunch and proceeding with some games.

Living Hope founder and chairman Dr Peggy C. Wong said they wanted the children to know they were loved and not forgotten.

She said the AmBank Group had contributed RM25,000 towards Living Hope, adding the money would be used to benefit 1,000 poor, needy and marginalised individuals during the Christmas season.

“We have used the money to buy Christmas gifts, snacks and drinks for the children,” she said.

AmBank Group northern region district manager Lee Soon Peng hoped their contribution could help improve the lives of the children.

TBL Kampar coordinator Epa Kampok said the children, aged between four and six years old, had a good time enjoying the food and receiving their presents.

Epa’s Christmas wish for this year was to have more volunteers help her run the TBL.

“It’s difficult to manage more than 50 orang asli children on my own with only one helper,” she said.
