REGARDLESS of race, religion and culture, Malaysian youth are the nation’s untapped gems. In realising the importance of youth to the country, The Zhariff Initiative Sdn Bhd (TZI) is organising a series of sharing programmes called “Breaking The Barrier” (BTB) tour throughout the country.
Designed and led by chief executive officer Muhammad Zhariff Afandi, BTB hopes to provide the support and development that will promote a sense of responsibility and independence towards the prosperity of the nation.
Launched by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and supported by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, the BTB tour aims to reach out to youths in colleges and universities, and inspire them on the great possibilities of life.
“Through this programme, we want to engage and interact with the youth and present a richer experience in understanding the meaning of breaking the barrier of limitations. This will also lead to enhancement of self-confidence, knowledge and healthier self-esteem among them,” Zhariff said.
The BTB tour will kick off in February 2012 with 300 to 700 students and lecturers participating at each location.
The tour offers a unique blend of engaging activities such as inspirational ‘Sharing’ by Zhariff, exciting performances by guest artistes as well as the increasingly popular support of PostSecret Malaysia and One Million Happy Faces.
The embodiment of positive thinking, ‘Sharing’ by Zhariff is about life and being inspired to achieve wonderful things. It will provide a refreshing insight into the power of the mind over physical and perceptive limitations.
Highlighting his journey in life, Zhariff will tell his story of overcoming his physical disability in order to strive for only the best. Being independent, he proves that despite these challenges, he strives to do great things not just for himself but also for the community.
With a Developmental Psychology background and extensive work in humanitarian relief and community development both locally and the international scene, Zhariff hopes the BTB Tour will inspire each individual to move ahead beyond limitations and transcend oneself to greater heights.
There will be appearances by celebrities, with a line-up comprising Nadhiraa, Sazzy Falak, Karmal, SonaOne, Harith Iskandar, Atilia, and social entrepreneur Ellynita Lamin. They will give students first-hand account of their experiences before they became successful.
“This road tour aims to create an understanding about oneself, specifically on their capabilities, inefficiencies, ability to cope and overcome their limitations. I aspire for these students to believe in themselves to accomplish a task, and be confident about their decisions and opinions. I hope to impart to the students the ability to recognise and understand their own moods, sensitivities, biases and convictions and the effect these factors have on overall effectiveness,” adds Zhariff.
The tour is designed for young Malaysians who are about to embark into the world of adulthood and responsibility. It will be held in five universities and colleges from February 2012 until April 2012.
Participation is free, and the dates and locations are as follows: SEGi College Subang Jaya (Feb 8), KDU University College (Feb 15), HELP University College (March 14), University Putra Malaysia (March 28), SEGi University College (April 4).
