THE Miss Tourism International 2011 World Final is back again, but this time with a twist!
The bevy of beauties will soon be gracing our shores to foster goodwill and friendship. They will also promote Malaysian culture.
Yes! this year efforts are being made to promote Malaysian culture and heritage, especially Malaysia’s batik, hence there will be special session where the delegates will be parading batikwear specially designed for the world final taking place on Dec 31 at 7.30pm at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.
The ladies will also get a chance to try their hands at batik crafting and learn something about the batik industry when they are in Kuala Lumpur.
D’ Touch International Sdn Bhd, who is organising the event, said this year 60 countries will be participating in the finals, making it the biggest ever in the history of Miss Tourism International.
“The event is unique in the sense that it is the only annual New Year’s Eve World Final pagent, and it is also the biggest New Year’s Eve Countdown Party, with delegates from 60 countries in attendance, making it the biggest ever in the history of Miss Tourism International,’’ said event project director Irene Leong.
Initiated in 1994 by president and franchise owner, Datuk Danny Ooi, Miss Tourism International is a homegrown title and more than just a beauty pagent.
“It is an international platform to promote peace, tourism and cultural exchanges, and to foster friendship, harmony and goodwill,’’ said Leong.
“The Miss Tourism International 2011 World Final will go a long way in complementing the efforts of the Tourism Ministry in promoting the country. It is also timely as it coincides with the country’s shopping carnival and year-end sale,’’ added Leong.
A sumptuous eight course Chinese dinner will be served during the Miss Tourism International 2011 World Final. For ticket reservations, call the pageant secretariat at 014-324 2216 or 017- 300 1017 (Sara).
