New equipment for KLH gym

What say you on the issue below?

PROPERTY developer S. P. Setia has sponsored equipment and refurbished the gym at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Sports Club.

Hospital director and sports club president Datuk Dr Zaininah Mohd Zain said the club was registered in 1978 and had about 500 members.

“The equipment in the gym have been there for almost 23 years and nothing has been upgraded since then.

Token of thanks: Dr Zaininah, Lee and Setia Precast divisional general manager Kow Choong Ming at the opening of the refurbished gym.

“You can just imagine how old the equipment are,” she said.

The sports club approached S.P. Setia and its construction arm, Setia Precast which is the contractor for the hospital’s specialist complex-cum-ambulatory care centre, which is now under construction.

The group spent more than RM90,000 on new gym equipment as well as renovating the gym.

S.P. Setia director and S.P. Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye attended the opening of the refurbished gym recently.

Lee said this was not S.P. Setia’s first contribution to the hospital. More than eight years ago, the developer sponsored a therapeutic garden at the hospital’s grounds to help patients recuperate. The developer had also donated a van for the hospital’s organ donation drive.

He also encouraged the staff to look after the new gym and put the equipment to good use.

Dr Zaininah said the refurbished gym would attract more staff to exercise and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
