KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 —A Form Four student of the Royal Military College (RMC) in Sungai Besi died early today after he was allegedly bullied and abused by senior students of the institution, police said.

A Ministry of Defence (Mindef) statement said the death of Mohammad Naim Mustaqim Mohamad Sobri, 16, occurred some time between 11.30am yesterday and 1.20am today.

It said he was found unconscious and rushed to the Armed Forces Medical Centre at the Sungai Besi Camp but was confirmed dead soon after being brought in.

His body was then taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for a post-mortem, and a report was lodged at the Sungai Besi police station at 2am, it said.

The statement said several students who had been with Mohammad Naim Mustaqim during the incident had been called up to help in the investigation.

Cheras police deputy chief Supt Abdul Rahim Hamzah confirmed the incident and said initial investigations showed a criminal element in the death of the teenager.

Mindef said in its statement that a board of investigation had been set up to identify the cause of the boy’s death.
