AS part of its commitment to the residents of Bandar Sunway, Sunway City Bhd has introduced two free shuttle buses to improve passenger service in the community.
Available from 7am to 10pm daily, the service has solved some of the transport woes and, more significantly, cost savings for the residents.
The biggest benefit has been to the students of Sunway University College and Monash University Malaysia, who previously would have paid between RM20 and RM40 a month on bus and taxi fares.
Now, more than 300 people use this service daily, 70% of which are students.
Sunway has invested a significant amount of money on the shuttle buses so that the residents can enjoy the free service.
The total amount spent on the buses, construction of the three bus stops, the maintenance and salaries of the bus drivers works out to more than RM1mil.
The bus drivers are also required to help senior citizens and mothers with baby strollers to get onto the bus.
“Convenience is a key factor in today’s lifestyle.
“The bus service offers Sunway residents and students a time and cost-saving travelling mode within the integrated resort city.
“At Sunway, we are constantly upgrading the service standards and facilities offered to meet the changing lifestyle of its community,” Sunway City Bhd property investment managing director Ngeow Voon Yean said.
Other than ensuring trouble-free transport within Bandar Sunway, the shuttle bus service is also aimed at reducing air pollution as fewer cars will be used at one time.
