PUTTING up the Christmas tree is an annual ritual that most children enjoy.
Similarly, some 300 children wlefare homes who attended Sunrise’s Deck The Trees at Plaza Mont’Kiara Fountain Courtyard had an enjoyable time when presented with 10 bare trees and all manner of decorative materials from tinsel, ornaments, cotton and coloured paper.
They also had to dress up one member from their home as Santa Claus.
It was a test of creativity as points were given to the most beautiful tree and best-dressed Santa to determine the winning Home.
Pusat Jagaan Rumah Juara bagged the first prize, valued at RM2,000. Not a single child went home empty-handed as all were rewarded with a gift pack containing a coin box, photo frame, sand art kits, tupperware, colouring kit, milk and sweet treats.
The children will have the joy of reliving this magical evening by putting up the tree in their homes for many more Christmas to come.
Twenty volunteers from Sunrise were present to attend to the needs of the children from 10 welfare homes including 35 Myanmarese, bringing them food and helping with the face- painting activities.
Performances included a sing-a-long of Christmas carols by the 1st Puchong Boys’ Brigade Coy, followed by Wendy’s Dance students’ hip-hop and ballet repertoire.
Mr Magical Clown also enthralled the children with his tricks and sculpted balloon giveaways.
The main sponsors for the event were United Overseas Bank, Tupperware Brands and Giant Hypermarket while Domino’s Pizza and Patisserie Rui Bakery sponsored meals.
Cash sponsorship totalled RM11,500. Sunrise Bhd first organised Deck the Trees in 2006, and will continue this annual tradition as a caring community developer with an on-going commitment to social responsibility.
