25 cars destroyed in Hulu Kelang fire

AMPANG: Twenty-five cars were destroyed when two workshops in Jalan Hulu Kelang here caught fire early yesterday morning.

Fire and Rescue Department Ampang station chief Che Shaari Abdullah said losses in the 6am fire was estimated at RM1 million.

Five cars were spared in the fire.

He said 18 firemen in three fire engines, from the Ampang, Pandan Indah and Wangsa Maju stations, took three hours to douse the flames.

They managed to bring the fire under control after 20 minutes but it was only completely put out about 9am due to the presence of paints and oil.

The cause has yet to be ascertained.
