GRORGE TOWN: Four international schools in the Klang Valley have teamed up with Penang’s SK Sungai Gelugor to promote sports, especially, hockey.
They signed a memorandum of understanding in Penang recently which also included the “Academic and Hockey Friendly Integration Programme”.
The four international schools were, Alice Smith International School, Gardens International School, Mount Kiara International School and the International School of Kuala Lumpur. SK Sungai Gelugor is the oldest Malay school in the country.
The programme, which saw the co-operation of the Prodigy Hockey Acdemy, Kuala Lumpur, involved 15 children, 15 parents support group and four teachers from the Klang Valley-based schools.
The MoU was signed by Prodigy Hockey Academy chief executive officer I. Vickneswaran and SK Sungai Gelugor's headmistress Rohani Ali.
“This programme is to foster good relationship and understanding which should be developed further to go beyond just relationship and understanding,” said Rohani.
“This programme should also include academic, cultural and tradition exchange.”
Rohani said it was their responsibility to give back to society and safeguard the racial integration for lasting peace.
Vickneswaran invited the SK Sungai Gelugor participants to visit the international schools in the Klang Valley under their exchange programme.
