THE ‘Dulux Colours of Hope’ contest came to a close recently with the presentation of a Lexus CT200h hybrid car to grand prize winner Mohd Azmi Mad Sah.
The competition, which started three months ago was held by AkzoNobel (owner of ICI Paints) with the purpose of “Adding colour to people’s lives”.
AkzoNobel also hosted another competition, ‘Dulux Go Green’ last year, in line with the company’s humanitarian efforts.
The winner of this year’s ‘Dulux Colours of Hope’ competition was also allowed to nominate a charitable organisation for a paint makeover by Dulux.
Mohd Azmi decided to give the honour to Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (Ractar).
Ractar is a home for orphans and poor girls from all over Malaysia, providing full board and education for girls between five and 20 years old.
“I chose Ractar because I love children and as a father of two girls I feel it is important to equip girls with education and skills to enable them to be independent.” said Mohd Azmi, a bank manager from Muar.
The ‘Dulux Colours of Hope’ contest ran from July 2 until Sept 30.
Consumers had to buy any of Dulux’s 5 litre eco-friendly paints and answer a simple question. At the end of the contest period, 11 winners were short listed to compete for the grand prize, a Lexus CT200h and a chance to nominate a charitable organisation for a paint makeover by Dulux.
In the final round, 11 contestants were given 30 minutes to complete a colour scheming challenge for one exterior and four interior room sets (living, dining, nursery and master bedroom).
The panel of judges consisted of Dulux brand ambassador Eric Leong, ICI Paints (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd colour consultant Loh Chin Sia, and marketing director Teo Lee Ming.
The criteria considered were concept, colour and creativity.
