IT WAS a healthy and fun occassion as Fitness First Malaysia celebrated 10 years of success with a members’ appreciation bash themed “The Big 10 — Evolution and Achievements”.
The bash was held at its founding club, Menara Manulife.
Fitness First managing director Shaun Measday said their approach towards the business had been constantly evolving over the past decade.
“With various international fitness centres around, we are clearly no longer the new kid on the block. The most important evolution during this time has been the development of our mission: To become famous for making the world a fitter place; like-minded staff work together to make the difference,” said Measday.
Fitness First has pioneered a wide array of new programmes over the years, such as Easy Step, Easy Moves, Team Workouts, group suspension training workouts featuring the TRX suspension trainer, Drums Alive, Freestyle Training and Muay Thai to name a few.
“We also take great pride in having developed the revolutionary Lose Big and Lose It weight-loss programmes, both of which were put together by Dave Nuku — trainer from the hit reality show The Biggest Loser Asia,” added Measday.
Looking forward, Fitness First planned to stay at the very cutting edge of the hottest exercise trends from around the world.
“This month we are excited to be the first fitness centre in Malaysia to launch Zumba” said Measday.
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness programme that blends red-hot international music created by Grammy Award winning producers and contagious steps to form a fitness party that is downright addictive.
In conjunction with the launch, there will be a Zumba Party held at each club with the Christmas theme from Dec 25 to 31.
Apart from promoting fitness, the club has also contributed to various charities.
“This year, our focus for Miracle 2011 is to support two beneficiaries: the National Kidney Foundation and Persatuan Kebajikan Kasih, and with the generous support of our loyal members we were able to raise some RM50,000,” Measday said.
With Fitness First toasting its 10th anniversary, the company has also revealed plans for another decade of evolution, innovation and achievement — starting with the opening of a number of new clubs in 2012.
“We have three clubs slated to open next year, beginning with The Scott Garden, in Jalan Kelang Lama and Setia City Mall (Shah Alam) offering even more accessibility and convenience for Malaysians to get healthy and achieve their goals,” he added.
“The biggest source of pride for us is definitely the transformations, both physical and emotional. This is what we really get excited about and we hope to see even more remarkable transformations in the next 10 years,” said Measday.
