Teacher transferred after claims of sexual abuse

MALACCA: A teacher has been transferred to another school following allegations that he sexually abused two primary schoolgirls in Jasin.
The 11-year-old pupils have accused him of sexually abusing them during a co-curriculum activity.
They alleged that the incident occurred while they were arranging sports equipment at a storeroom in the school.
The father of one of the pupils lodged a police report on Sunday at the Jasin police headquarters, demanding that the state Education Department take disciplinary action against the teacher.
The 45-year-old father claimed that the two schoolgirls were molested by the teacher at about 9am on May 27.
He said the girls had earlier played netball and had gone to the storeroom to hand over the balls, accompanied by the male teacher, before he abused them.
Apparently, the father detected that something was wrong when his daughter became reluctant to go to school.
The father then went to the school on Aug 3 to meet the headmaster and was told to wait for two weeks for investigations to be carried out.
On Aug 22, the school advised the father to lodge a police report on behalf of the two girls.
State Education, Higher Learning, Science, Green Technology committee chairman Datuk Md Yunos Husin said the teacher had since been transferred out.
He said the Jasin district Education office was alerted about the case.
“The state Education Department has been directed to give specific attention to the case,” he said when contacted.
He also noted that the supposed incident occurred inside a storeroom with no CCTV recordings.
Furthermore, he said a police report was made only three months later, adding that the case must be investigated thoroughly.
