Johor prince gets help to treat lion

JOHOR BARU: Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar has roped in veterinarians from the Singapore Zoo to help an injured lion get back on its feet.
Tunku Idris, the third child of Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, assured those concerned about the lion that the animal was already receiving treatment from Malaysian veterinarians.
It was reported that the skinny-looking lion had injured itself as its long claws had dug into its paws, making it difficult for the 18-year-old to move around.
A 30-second clip that went viral showed the lion dragging its feet at its enclosure in the Johor Zoo.
This has caught the attention of Tunku Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Idris’ sister, who then posted it on her Instagram account.
About the new zoo that will replace the Johor Zoo, Tunku Idris said he had spent time doing research on this.
He posted a picture on Instagram in what looked like a layout plan for a new state zoo.
He also urged Tunku Aminah, who is currently overseas with the Sultanah, to help out with ideas on a new zoo.
It was reported that the Johor government was looking into the possibility of relocating one of the oldest zoos in the country to Nusajaya from its current location at Jalan Gertak Merah here due to the lack of space.
Built in 1928 over a 4ha plot, it was originally called an animal garden before being handed to the state government for renovation in 1962.
