JOHOR BARU: A woman football fan was among 14 who got a tongue-lashing from a magistrate over their unruly behaviour after a recent Super League match between Johor Darul Takzim and Perak at the Larkin Stadium here.
Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias slapped each of them with the maximum RM100 fine, and told them that fans should always be responsible and exercise good discipline.
In the dock were Mohammad Rafiq Ismail, 24, Muhammad Danial Roslee, 19, Wan Hazri Wan Halimi, 28, Muhammad Amirul Aiman Jamal, 19, Aminurrashid Nurdin, 22, Mohamad Hazwan Mohd Razaly, 22, and Alif Naimmullah Zulkifli, 18.
Others included Muhammad Fattah Abdul Jalil, 28, Muhammad Faizal Ibrahim, 21, Mohd Sharezza Mohd Said, 30, Mohd Napiz Mohd Din, 32, Mohd Firdaus Abd Ghafar, 28, and Mohd Zulkiflee Tukiman, 41.
The female fan was identified as Nur Shahida Sulaiman, 23. All pleaded guilty.
They were charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 with using indecent, threatening, abusive or insulting words, or with behaving in a threatening or insulting manner.
All were accused of committing the offence at the stadium at 11pm on Aug 19.
Lawyer Mohd Asram Zakaria, who represented all 14, said in mitigation that his clients did not intend to cause chaos or disturbance but were only being fanatic as JDT was their favourite football team.
“They were there just as JDT supporters and regret their action and behaviour. They will not repeat this in future,” he said, adding that the two-day remand would be a lesson for them.
Meanwhile, Alif pleaded not guilty to another charge of causing hurt to auxiliary policeman Mohamed Asak Turuna, 41, at the same time and place.
Mohd Azlan set bail at RM1,000 and set Sept 15 for re-mention of the case.
DPP Dzul Iswari Mohd Jaafar prosecuted.
