TWO young friends from the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home were full of glee as they waited for a Christmas party to begin.
M. Meheswaran, nine, and Nicholas Klaw, eight, discussed the magic shows and games which they enjoyed at a similar event last year.
They were among 200 excited children, aged four to 12, who were treated to games, carols, magic shows and food at the Children’s Christmas Party 2011 at the YWCA Penang on Jalan Mesjid Negeri recently.
Carollers from the Penang Cheshire Home sang popular Christmas songs much to the delight of the children who clapped along.
YWCA president Dr Marina David said the children were from the Cerebral Palsy (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang, the Ramakrishnan Ashrama, Shan Children’s Home, Rumah Sri Cahaya, Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home, Charis Home, St Joseph’s Home and the Children’s Protection Society.
She added that the event was sponsored by the Penang Government.
State executive councillor Chow Kon Yeow’s wife Tan Lean Kee was also at the function.
