GETTING ready to go back to school often conjure images of new uniforms, colourful school bags, new pencil cases and excited chatter with friends.
Sadly, this most basic childhood experience does not happen for all children. Some are less fortunate due to poverty.
To share the joy and help needy children prepare for going back to class when school reopens, Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has launched a special campaign that engages the community in a sponsorship programme. It will enable needy children to receive items they need to start their school term.
“We have identified five orphanages and shelter homes for children and get individual child’s needs for school. Customers can purchase items from selected Tesco stores and donate to the child of their choice,” said Tesco Malaysia’s chief executive officer Sunghwan Do.
Do said Tesco hoped that customers would participate in this charity programme and help bring cheer to the children as well as fire their motivation to get back to school and excel in their studies.
Tesco’s Back to School 2011 charity campaign started from Nov 28 and will end on Dec 21.
