A Holiday Circus

What say you on the issue below?

Forget the snowman and twinkling mistletoe this Christmas. At Louis Vuitton, the theme for this Holiday season is the circus. Colourful stripes, tightrope walkers, and dancing elephants adorn the window displays of luxury items at all their stores across the globe, including the newly expanded LV store at Suria KLCC,

KLCC

The newly expanded Men’s Universe in the KLCC store.

SAME time last year, Louis Vuitton catalogued a "Noel Christmas" gift selection of bags, luggage, jewellery, watches, shoes etc in a nostalgic setting of a country manor and icy courtyard garden. This year, the world's leading French luxury house surprises everyone with a joyful theme of a circus to present its luxury gift ideas for the whole family and loved ones for the yuletide season.

The magical spirit of the holidays starts with the most engaging store window displays, summoning the splendour of the circus, where dancing elephants (covered in tangerine and red harlequin checks) perform balancing acts with the Louis Vuitton Alma on a giant bauble or the Vuitton woman walking on tight rope in Fall/Winter 2011 platform pumps and toting the iconic Lockit bag against a colourful backdrop of trompe l'oeil circus-tent stripes -- a fabulous reminder of our childhood fantasy of joy and festive spirit of the travelling circus.

Louis Vuitton, the 157-year old malletier, is no stranger to this magical universe. The inventiveness of the Maison's founders and the skill of its craftsmen were so well known in the circus world that it would appear that Houdini, the famous conjurer who defied every security mechanism in the late 19th century, even decided against confronting the -- said to be impregnable -- locks on Louis Vuitton trunks.

Documents of the time show that the mime artist Kita always had his customised trunk to hand, even on stage. Indulge in the joy of giving and enter the fantasy world in which every object tells of dreams via their Christmas holiday booklet where gifting ideas are presented in other circus acts of an elephant balancing on one foot atop a Monogram Box; magicians' rabbits and pigeons floating about Small Leather Goods and Tambour watches; colourful monkeys breaking into a caged Damier briefcase or playfully kicking up their feet in men's shoes and striped seals performing a duo-act of tossing Monogram cases.

THE MEN'S UNIVERSE

The splendour of the circusthemed window display this season also coincides with the reopening of the newly expanded LV store in Suria, KLCC. Boasting a magnificent 8-metre facade with a modern spin on the Maison's signature Damier check design inspired by "chiba" -- an illuminating glass that seamlessly shines with a trickling effect and meanders into the entrance, the store proudly presents the extended Men's Universe -- a spacious and masculine club-like area dedicated to the demands of the growing local men's market, offering a wide range of leather goods, sunglasses and accessories for the discerning men (and women searching for Christmas gifts). A special highlight is the men's shoes section showcasing an array of luxurious footwear, complete with leather armchairs and a video visual display of LV shoe craftsmanship and savoir faire at their shoe workshop, Fiesso D'Artico in Italy.
