Calling young talented pianists

What say you on the issue below?

THE International Steinway Festival is a celebrated showcase of top youth pianists from select countries. For the first time since its inception in 1987, the festival welcomes one participant from South- East Asia.

Bentley Music, the sole distributor of Steinway & Sons Malaysia, will be hosting the Malaysian competition to discover the finest young talent. This dedicated individual will represent Malaysia in the Steinway Regional Finals, to be held next April in Singapore.

BMW Group Malaysia is the main sponsor of this inaugural Steinway Malaysia Youth Piano Competition.

The search is on: Wong says they are looking for a performer who is able to stand out from the rest.

If you are an extraordinary piano player between the ages of 10 and 17, this is your moment to shine the brightest possible.

Send in your 10-minute video of one of the pieces from the repertoire list before Jan 15, 2012. Competition is stiff as only 10 semi-finalists will be chosen.

Accomplished concert pianist, Shuenda Wong, who is one of the three judges, offers a word of advice: “We are looking for the X factor, so just playing notes is not enough. We need to be able to feel your heart and see your passion. We are looking for a performer who is able to stand out from the rest”.

Be sure to submit your entry as soon as possible. An early bird submission fee of RM150 applies for all entries up to Dec 31. Subsequently, a submission fee of RM200 applies.
