STAR 360 , the distributors of Lotto brand in Malaysia, have shown their commitment to Soccerguru Football Academy.
Its product manager Frankie Ng said they were supportive of the development of football at grassroots.
“Soccerguru has an impressive training programme for juniors. It is also active in the Junior Football League (JFL) in three age groups. Soccerguru’s vision is to groom young football players. Star 360 shares the same vision.
“We have decided to contribute attire and equipment to the academy,’’ said Frankie.
And to show their commitment, Star 360 invited former international and current Negri Sembilan captain Shukor Adan to conduct a coaching clinic for Soccerguru trainees recently.
Shukor, who skippered Negri Sembilan to victory in the Malaysia Cup, shared his experience with the players. He also joined the players for a friendly match.
Soccerguru manager J. Manvir said they were thankful to Star 360 for coming forward to support their programme.
About 70 students, aged from 10 to 16, train under coaches S. Karuppiah and P Thana-balasingam at the SJK (T) Bandar Kinrara on weekends. But because of the school holidays and ongoing JFL, the training sessions are held every day.
Manvir said the players have shown tremendous progress in the JFL.
“They are currently in the third spot in the Under-16 competition. It is certainly encouraging and we are looking forward to an impressive season,’’ said Manvir.
Shukor said he was pleased to share his experience with the trainees from Soccerguru.
“Looking at them play was exciting. They were all happy and that is important,’’ said Shukor.
