TANAH MERAH: The State Anti-Smuggling unit (UPP) seized smuggled items worth about RM104,000 in three separate operations on Saturday and Sunday.
Unit commander Superintendent Mazlan Che Hamid said the goods comprised 8,000kg of rice worth about RM24,000, 12 head of cattle (RM36,000) and six boxes of firecrackers (RM18,000).
He said the rice was seized at an estate about 6pm in Felda Kemahang 3 here, on Saturday while the cattle were found at another estate in Wakaf Zain, Air Lanas, Jeli on Sunday.
The same unit, led by Chief Inspector Zubaidi Ariffin, seized the boxes of firecrackers at an illegal jetty in Lubuk Lalang on Sunday.
