In the dark over relocation status

What say you on the issue below?

AFTER having paying land premium of RM641 on July 1 and given a letter of approval to relocate by the state government, Persatuan Penganut Tian Chuen Kajang is still in the dark over its relocation status.

At present, the 30-year-old Tian Chuen Kajang temple is situated near the SRJK Chinese Batu 11, Cheras and the Cheras Batu 11 wet market, causing traffic jam daily.

Because of the unsuitable location, the committee has followed proper procedures when requesting for the relocation.

The temple, which is the only big temple in Kajang, caters for about 10,000 residents.

Busy street: This is a daily occurrence after school hours near the temple.

According to the asociation’s chairman Poh Tiam Lai, the state government has given the approval for them to use a 0.1ha leasehold land at an open space in Taman Indah Phase 2 on Feb 22 last year.

“However, there is no document stating that we can do any work on the land in Taman Indah Phase 2.

“When we asked the state local government, studies and research committee chairman Ronnie Liu, he told us that it was approved and to go ahead with the planning.

“Now, some residents in Taman Indah Phase 2 have protested on the temple being there and we are in the dark over the matter,’’ said Poh during a press conference on Sunday.

Its treasurer, Wong Swee Hoong, said because of the delicate situation, he urged the state government to issue them a letter stating that the land in Taman Indah Phase 2 belonged to the association.

“It is only best for the Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and all the executive councillors to visit the site before and after school hours with the terrible traffic jam to see the situation for themselves,” said Wong.

“We are not asking for something that is not ours.

“Since we have paid the land premium, it is only right that we are given the land to build the temple there.

“Anyway the state government has already approved the relocation plan,” he said.
