A BOTTLE of Maxwell Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 fetched RM16,888 when it was put up for auction during a wine dinner held in the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur recently.
The wine was auctioned by local speciality wine retail store chain Denise the Wine Shop (Denise), and the proceeds will be channelled to the poor this Christmas.
The charity auction was a prelude to, and in support of, the opening of the chain’s outlet in the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur under the brand name Dionne Wines.
The outlet’s opening marked the beginning of Denise the Wine Shop and Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur’s partnership in creating “A Haven for Wine & Food Lovers”, which aims to encourage the apprecuiation of wine among Asians.
In conjunction with its opening, Denise founder and managing director David Lim announced Dionne Wines’ aim to help the poor this Christmas.
In addition to the proceeds of the auction, 9% of the sales from all wines sold before 9pm on the opening day would be added to the funds raised during the charity drive, which will be donated to selected charity organisations this Christmas.
Denise the Wine Shop has almost 40 outlets in Malaysia and Singapore and nearly 12,000 members in Malaysia.
Having secured some of the best agencies worldwide, the chain offers some top-rated wines at reasonable prices.
Dionne Wines in the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur is Denise’s first upper-segment shop.
