Marathon sessions questioned

What say you on the issue below?

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should try to accommodate the requests of cooperative witnesses who are summoned to give statements.

Lawyer Tiew Way Keng questioned the motives of the MACC’s marathon questioning sessions and asked if there was a plot to pressure witnesses.

She said this during a press conference in front of the MACC building here before proceeding to observe the questioning of construction and supply company manager Lee Why Wing regarding the allocation of Selangor state funds.

Lee was interviewed by the MACC for more than five hours on Tuesday and was called in again yesterday as the MACC could not finish questioning him in time.

Lawyer and Bukit Kepayang assemblyman Cha Kee Chin who was also observing the session said that Lee was a “average Joe” and was not used to this type of stressful conditions.

“Lee never refused when he was asked to go to the MACC office in Shah Alam or when they seized the CPU from his house. He has agreed to cooperate and has no reason to run away,” Cha added.
