NILAI: Umno Youth is open to discussions with PAS Youth on a wide range of issues, not just political matters, said its chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said discussion between the two wings need not have a formal agenda.
“It is important for both parties to not be suspicious of each other,” he said.
Khairy said that he had a brief discussion with Pas Youth vice-chief Azman Shapawi Abdul Rani about the direction of the talks but it did not include about having a formal relationship.
“It is just if we are fated to have a chance to properly discuss and meet in the future, I am open to that path.
“I hope PAS Youth will still be open to that idea too,” he said at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house of PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa in Bandar Bukit Mahkota yesterday.
On his visit, Khairy said: “Umno Youth wants to build a camaraderie and through such visits we can see the similarities in the relationship between PAS and Umno.”
DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and DAP strategist Liew Chin Tong also attended the open house but left when Khairy arrived with his entourage.
