Govt allocates RM1.5mil to repair houses in Manek Urai

KUALA KRAI: The Federal Govern-ment has allocated RM1.5mil to repair houses of the hardcore poor in Manek Urai, said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed.

He said the allocation made via the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) would be spent on repairing 500 houses.

Each house has been allocated RM3,000. “The repairs to be completed by the end of the year will include roofing and flooring works,” he said when giving house keys un-der the Hardcore Poor Housing Pro-gramme at Kampung Manek Urai here yesterday.

Mustapa, who is also Kelantan Umno chief, said 45 houses had been built under the programme to lessen the burden faced by the hardcore poor.

Rubber tapper Salleh Mohamed, 51, said he was thankful to the Federal Government for giving him a comfortable house to live in.

“Finally, I get to own a house after 21 years of marriage. I consider this an Aidilfitri gift to my family,” he said.
