SHAH ALAM: Police have recorded statements from more than 100 people to assist investigations into Friday's cow's head incident.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Azam Jamaludin said those who were involved in the demonstration against the proposed relocation of a temple to their neighbourhood in Section 23 were identified based on the pictures taken during the event.
Noor Azam, however, did not disclose the number of people involved in the incident.
He said police were in the process of gathering evidence from all witnesses, adding that the investigation was about 80 per cent complete.
"Once police investigation is complete, we will refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor for further action."
Nor Azam was also questioned on the police report lodged by Section 23 residents against several politicians for what they alleged as making biased and unfair comments that could cause racial tension in the neighbourhood.
He said the residents lodged a general report to say that the cow's head was never meant to be paraded to the State Secretariat building to insult the Hindus.
"In the report, they stressed that the cow's head only signified the stupidity of the state government and was not meant to touch the religious sensitivities of anyone."
On Friday, about 50 people gathered at the gates of the State Secretariat building here carrying a cow's decapitated head and warned of further action if a temple was constructed in Section 23 here.
Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) president Datuk Ibrahim Ali said checks by the organisation showed that the cow's head was not aimed at those of the Hindu faith, but at the menteri besar and non-Indian exco members.
Ibrahim also said the residents were not consulted by the state government in the decision to relocate the temple to their neighbourhood.
