Colourful mascots wow the crowd

What say you on the issue below?

CHILDREN were running around with excitement as they met 30 of their favourite mascots at the Genting Giant Mascot Party 2009 recently.

The third annual event held at the Genting Outdoor Theme Park, saw some of the children’s most favourite, recognisable faces at the party hosted by the Theme Park’s mascots Tabby and Friends.

Fun lot: Clowns and jesters lightened the atmosphere with their jokes and balloon tricks.

Among the mascots at the party were Ribena Berry and Ms Lemon from GlaxoSmithKline, Mat Kool, Milo, Captain Star, Koko Krunch, Yoco from Nestle, Captain Charlie, Abbie and Toby from Star Cruisers, The Paddle Pop Lion from Wall’s, Yellow Man from DiGi, Chipmunk from Marrybrown, Kimo from Daily Fresh, The Great Bears from A&W, Horlicks, Baby Mo from Megakidz, Mamee Monster and Mister Potato from Mamee Double Decker and Lumix iA from Panasonic.

All the mascots are from brands that are available at Genting Highlands.

The senior vice-president, Resorts Planning and Theme Park, Jarrod Kenneth Reyes, said they always tried to outdo themselves so that the children would have a good time.

Colourful characters: The mascots greeting the crowd.

“The smiles and excitement of the children speak for itself, all the characters here are everyday brands,” he said.

Reyes added that 30 lucky children from their annual passport members who had registered for the party had the privilege of escorting the mascots on stage.

The children, aged between three and 12 years, were all smiles as they went on stage to escort the mascots who were receiving the certificate of participation from Reyes.

A total of 40,000 people at the theme park had the opportunity to take pictures with their favourite mascots who went around greeting visitors.

There were also games and activities while the first 500 registered guests could redeem a Golden Ticket to stand a chance to win prizes worth more than RM25,000. Door gifts were given away to the first 2,000 participants who registered before Nov 25 via e-mail and phone calls.

For first timer Sharon Low, 33, the event was an interesting one, especially for her two children.

“Children would definitely like events like these. My children are enjoying themselves thoroughly,” she added.

Little Li Jean, nine, said she was excited to see so many mascots at one place and her aim was to take pictures with as many mascots as possible before she left.

The event started at 2pm and went on till 7pm.
