PETALING JAYA: Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor has called upon Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to amicably settle the issues surrounding the relocation of the Hindu temple to Section 23, Shah Alam.
The private secretary to Sultan Sharafuddin, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said the Sultan wanted Khalid to resolve the problem without hurting the feelings of both Hindus and Muslims.
Mohamad Munir said the Sultan had written a letter dated Aug 24 to Khalid expressing his hope that the Mentri Besar would also consider the percentage of Muslims staying in the area and call on Section 23 residents for a discussion.
On Aug 28, some 50 people had protested against the relocation of the temple by marching about 300m from the state mosque to the state secretariat building in Shah Alam while carrying a cow’s head.
Claiming to be residents of Section 23 in Shah Alam, the protesters had placed the head outside the state secretariat building.
