King happy with good China-Malaysia relations

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, has sent a congratulatory message to China’s President Hu Jintao on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of China.

Saying that the strong bond of friendship between Malaysia and China had benefited both countries in many areas of cooperation, Tuanku Mizan expressed the hope that Malaysia and China would continue to find ways “to bring this positive collaboration to a new height for the benefit of the peoples of our two countries”.

Tuanku Mizan is also pleased to note that over the past 35 years, the warm and cordial relations between Malaysia and China continued to be strengthened.

The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Nur Zahirah, joined the King in extending warmest felicitations to the President and the people of China.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in a similar message to his counterpart Wen Jiabao, said he was pleased with the bilateral relations between both countries, which had expanded and continued to be strengthened over the 35 years since Malaysia and China established diplomatic relations in 1974.

“I am convinced that the signing of the Joint Action Plan on Malaysia-China Strategic Coop- eration during my last visit to China in June 2009 is yet another positive sign that the friendly and close relations between the two countries will be brought to a higher level,” Najib said.

Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman, in his message to his counterpart Yang Jiechi, said Malaysia viewed China as a close and reliable partner and that he looked forward to building an even more cohesive cooperation.
