THE new traffic system that will be implemented in North Klang effective today will see a significant change in traffic flow, including a mix of both one-way and two-way flow at certain stretches.
The new system will see parts of Jalan Meru, Jalan Kapar and Jalan Sireh having a one-way traffic flow, while parts of Jalan Batu Tiga and Jalan Raja Hassan having a two-way traffic flow.
Jalan Gelugor will be turned into a one-way road (starting from the former LHDN Building), while the one-way traffic flow in Jalan Nanas will now start from Domino’s Pizza till Ayamas.
A study conducted by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) in collaboration with the Public Works Department (JKR) and the police identified several problems, including delay at intersections with traffic lights, parking and waiting activities that disrupt traffic flow in the town centre, as well as the existing capacity in Jambatan Kota, Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim and Bulatan 100 that cannot cater to the high traffic during peak hours.
It was summarised from the study that more one-way routes should be introduced and the change in traffic circulation would facilitate a smoother traffic flow in Klang.
