Books and more at Johor’s biggest fair

JOHOR BARU: CALLING all bookworms: Get ready for the Popular Mega Bookfair which is being 
held at the Danga City Mall until Dec 7.
Open from 10am to 10pm daily, visitors can expect a wide selection of English, Chinese and Malay titles, together with stationery, CDs, DVDs and multimedia products, with discounts of up to 70 per cent.
On offer are many interesting titles by John Grisham, Jodi Picoult, Jeffrey Deaver, Sophie Kinsella and Nelson Mandela, among others.
Students and parents can get the best deals in town for stationery and schooling needs at the book fair.
The organiser hopes to attract 120,000 visitors this year, with a bigger exhibition space covering 3,344sq m.
Last year, there were 100,000 visitors.
In conjunction with the carnival, a Cosplay Festival 2014 will be held on Sunday.
The festival will see both solo and group Cosplay Competitions. The group category will be held on Sunday. The prizes are worth RM6,300.

This year, the Funtastic Game Station is back at the book fair and the number of participants has increased from 100 last year to 200 this year.
The event is for those aged 12 to 16.
Children who love colouring can take part in the Travel the World colouring contest tomorrow.
It is divided into category A for those aged 5 to 8, and category B for those aged 9 to 12.
Attractive prizes worth more than RM3,600 await the lucky winners.
Celebrity chef Datuk Chef Wan will conduct a cooking demonstration at 1.30pm today, and provide tips and tricks on cooking delicious meals.
Don’t miss out on the tantalising Cook Out Day on Dec 5 as famous chefs such as Singaporean Chef Eric Low, Nyonya cuisine master Chef Ricky Ng and confectionery master Chef Coco Kong show how to prepare their signature dishes.
Authors such as Owen Yap, John Tan, novelists from Odonata and renowned photojournalist Chok Yen Hau will make appearances throughout the book fair.
For every purchase of RM120 and above in a single receipt, customers are entitled to vouchers worth RM25.
