PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) has responded to his critics in Umno, telling them not to accuse him of being a traitor and demand his resignation as party deputy president.
Noting that he had contributed to the party for 40 years, he said some of those who wanted him out were the same ones he had helped before.
“Now they accuse me of being a traitor, demand that I appear before the disciplinary committee and even want me to resign,” he said in a statement.
Muhyiddin singled out a Selangor Umno division chief as one of the critics.
He said all the attacks did nothing to weaken his determination to continue fighting for the honour of Islam, country and race.
“As long as Umno upholds the teachings of Islam, guided by truth and justice and is led by leaders who are honest and God-fearing, Malays will not be left out in the cold,” he said.
Muhyiddin, who was dropped as Deputy Prime Minister in a Cabinet reshuffle last month, congratulated Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and his exco members for their “brave stance” in speaking up on issues such as 1MDB and the RM2.6bil political donation.
