HIDDEN deep inside Janda Baik, Pahang, Chengal Resort sits on a 0.8ha plot nestled in an idealic valley.
The resort opened its doors in 2014 and features a man-made pond complete with two bubbling little streams.
Aside from being a definite go-to place for holidaymakers wanting to escape the city, its beautiful setting and decent facilities also made it an excellent venue for StarMetro and UFL’s Glamping Weekend Getaway.
In total, 27 glampers signed up for the getaway, all of whom hailed from the Klang Valley.
The glampers signed up with the hopes of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and unwind in a natural setting.
And all of those we talked to agreed that those hopes were achieved.

The event kicked off at 11.30am and saw many participants arriving on time either by their own transport or on the shuttlebus arranged by the event’s organiser, Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn Bhd (UFL).
The participants said they were greatly impressed by the Chengal Resort’s setting.
“I was suprised by how amazing the surroundings looked,” said insurance agent Michael Wang, 55, who came with his family of five.
“The set-up was good, not to forget the food and activities as well,” he added.
UFL and StarMetro had put much effort into the activities planned for the event.
Glampers enjoyed various outdoor activities such as archery, nature walks, tree climbing as well as compete in special competitions such as waterwalking.
Many came with their families and there were a few who even came with younger children which made the event feel more like a gathering of good friends than a group holiday.
InPost Malaysia country manager Rosland Mohd Jannes, 43, who came with his 10-year-old son Mohd Haikal said he found the getaway to be very fulfiling.
“It was good to get away from the city,” said Rosland who is originally from Tamparuli, Sabah but now had settled down in Kuala Lumpur.
“This made for a great retreat to rest and recharge from my busy schedule and it was great to spend some quality time with my son.”
“I like camping and had a great time, so I definitely would like to go for the next one!” said Mohd Haikal adding that he had been camping since he was in Year 3.

“Glamping is trending regionally and we want to continue to grow this segment of interest together with StarMetro, especially for its readers,” said UFL managing director Datuk Radha Krishnan Nair.
“Last weekend’s glamping event at Janda Baik was the first time we had organised a glamping event for the public.
“Initial concerns were with the public’s overall expectation but through a survey form distributed at the event, we found that a majority felt that the Glamping Weekend Getaway was awesome,” Radha Krishnan said adding that many of the participants said they were looking forward to the next one.
“Rest assured we will work with StarMetro in the long run to further promote glamping in a big way,” said Radha Krishnan.
Kakimotor Sdn Bhd founder and managing director Lim See Tat said he and his family of five had a great time.
Travelling with his wife and three children, Lim said he found out about the vent from the articles written about in StarMetro.
“We had a great time this weekend,” said Lim.
“It’s very different from city life so it was very refreshing,” he said adding that he and his family planned to go again for the next event.
Glamping Weekend Getaway competition winner and business consultant Rita Rohini Joshua who came with a friend said, ““I really enjoy outdoor activities, so when I heard about the competition I leapt at the chance to participate.
“I found the whole experience very rewarding,” she added
