PUTRAJAYA: What started out as fun has become a turning point for Nor Azizan Ab Aziz to go into the Pahang royal pudding business seriously.
Her husband Mohamad Hamidi Ab Hamid, 37, who is from Pekan, the royal town of Pahang, introduced the pudding to her more than seven years ago.
Nor Azizan said, initially, the Pahang traditional royal dessert was difficult to make, but after several attempts at learning the ropes online, she finally mastered it.
“After uploading photos of the pudding that I made on Facebook, many of my friends wanted to try it.
“This inspired me to start a part-time business because the pudding is difficult to find elsewhere,” said Nor Azizan who is now the proud owner of the Ratu Delight brand.
Nor Azizan said she gets orders from all over Malaysia and involves over 30 agents that deliver via express buses.
The mother of two, who is working at the Bera parliament constituency people’s service centre, said orders also came in from Sabah and Sarawak, but it could not be fulfilled due to delivery issues.
Nor Azizan said she makes an average of 2,000 royal puddings a month with her husband’s help.
She said she was more comfortable doing business via online rather than opening up a shop because of the time constraints and the high rental costs and hiring of workers.
Among the main ingredients of the Pahang royal pudding are Jala Emas, which is made from egg yolk, and lemak manis banana, she said.
“Usually my pudding can last more than a week if frozen,” she added.
