KUCHING: Leong Lai Wah, the mother of former Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan, celebrated her 100th birthday in Singapore recently.
The centenarian shared the happy occasion with her siblings, four children and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also present were relatives and friends, some of whom came from as far away as the US, Canada and Australia. Dr Chan, who is her oldest son, paid tribute to his mother at the dinner.
He attributed her longevity to the simple life she led and the loving care of her children.
Leong was born on Aug 29 a century ago and has lived in Miri for most of her life.
