Auditor-General, musician Ooi Eow Jin conferred Penang awards



GEORGE TOWN: Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang and Malaysian musical maestro Ooi Eow Jin (pic) are among the 1,275 people who will be conferred state awards by the Yang diPertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas Saturday in conjunction with his 77th birthday.
Ambrin will be conferred the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN) which carries the title Datuk Seri, while Ooi, who was born and bred in Penang, will receive the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which carries the title Datuk.
Two Hong Kong nationals, Tan Huat E and Wong See Saw, are among the other 49 recipients who will receive the DSPN.
They are being conferred for their contribution and services towards the development of Penang.
Saturday is the first day of the investiture ceremony that will be held at Dewan Sri Pinang.
