We’ll view recording, says Hisham

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the authorities would view a recording to see if policemen strangled former Perak Speaker V. Sivakumar.Sivakumar claimed they did this whenthey were trying to pull the Speaker’s robe off him.

“We have a recording and probably we could view it to find out. Police can’t place themselves above the law. But Sivakumar managed to enter the House later,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday.

He described the Perak state assembly proceeding as “smooth” compared with the previous proceedings.

Hishammuddin said it was a good sign that no riots on the street took place this time. Barisan Nasional’s Bagan Datoh MP and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Sivakumar had committed treason against the Sultan of Perak again.

“We cannot tolerate the action taken by Sivakumar and his cronies,” he said at the Parliament lobby.

The Perak Constitution provides for the power of dissolving and endorsing of the State Legislative Assembly sitting to be in the hands of the Sultan, he said, adding that everyone should respect this.
