Malaysian teams in tourism contest

What say you on the issue below?

TEAM “Bak Kut Teh” is among the finalists of the The Best Trip in the World contest organised by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau.

The team, comprising undergraduates Ng Boon Ming and Liew Kai Yit, are bidding to win NT$1mil and a one-month Taiwan trip with their documentary of their four-day Taiwan tour.

Coupled with colourful photos, their detailed travel stories are posted on the contest website (http://www.taiwanbesttrip.net/) for public viewing and voting.

In the introduction, they explain that they chose to name themselves after the popular pork rib delicacy because of their build — one is skinny while another is on the heavier side.

Apart from the official contest website, Ng and Liew also maintain their own website, Facebook page and forum thread to reach out to more people across the region.

Their travelogue was also published in magazines and newspapers, and they have even shared their experiences on radio programmes.

Another Malaysian team that has made it into the finals is “KampungboyCitygal”, comprising Lim Dao Feng and Chin Wei Zhi, which has so far garnered 786 votes.

Selected from 1,123 teams from 44 countries, the finalists are actively campaigning to garner the most votes from netizens and have the largest number of Internet links, as this would constitute 15% of the total points in the judging criteria.
