IN line with the Government’s call to introduce vocational skills to students at an early stage, Enliten Ventures Sdn Bhd recently launched Enliten IT Skill Training, a centre which offers diploma courses for young students.
Its executive director Prem Kumar said apart from exposing students to professional skills at an early stage, the centre aims to provide vocational education towards establishing a skilled society.
He said students should be given a chance to nurture their skills in areas such as Information Technology (IT) as some students were not inclined to go through an academic-base course.
“The centre is open to students who dropped out of colleges or universities as well as for those who failed the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR). We will guide them and conduct a one-to-one session to find out their interest before they register for a particular course.
“For students who have serious issues and were involved in criminal activities in the past, we also have the expertise to guide them and bring them back to the right track,” said Prem, adding that it was a challenge for the centre to take up this task.
Prem said the centre had crafted a special Diploma in IT Support programme, which required students to undergo 70% practical (skill intensive) and 30% theory (academic) modules.
“Our centre takes a unique and innovative approach by teaching and helping students to connect with the subject matter they need to master. Students will be able to develop the tools they need for ongoing success in their fields of study through our personalised and focused teaching processes.
Enliten IT Skill Training can accommodate 60 students per intake from age 15 and above.
The courses currently offered by the centre are Diploma in IT Support (UK), Certified IT Support Specialist and PC Repairing Course
Teaching materials and test questions will be printed in Chinese and English and the centre has adopted a teaching method called “Learn Until You Master It” (meant for those taking up Diploma and Certified IT Support Specialist). Students need not incur additional charges for this and may resit exams in order to master a particular subject.
Students will be sent for a three-month industrial training to gain experience in the working world with Enliten’s professional technology partners.
The centre also ensures that all graduates of Diploma in IT Support will be guaranteed employment.
In addition to this, the centre has a competitive advantage as it provides accommodation for those from outstation, apart from a students service department to deal with issues pertaining to classes, subjects, sports and recreation.
Educational trips to various IT companies will also be organised for students to gain better knowledge and exposure in the IT world.
Intake for new students will commence on Dec 19.
