Please give us a football field

What say you on the issue below?

I AM a 14-year-old boy living in Bangsar Baru and I love to play football. In Bangsar Baru, there are two futsal courts. What took me aback was the pricing.

The cement court is RM20 an hour before 7pm and RM30 an hour after 7pm. The artificial grass court costs RM40 an hour before 7pm and RM50 thereafter.

These prices are really high for a teenager like me.

Normally my friends and I play futsal once a week, from 5pm to 7pm on the artificial grass court. That costs a total of RM80.

Besides the futsal court, I also play in the park near my school, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Bandaraya in Bangsar Park.

But this park is not suitable for football, for various reasons. It is too small and the ground is not level.

As it is a park, there are also many small children and senior citizens around, so we have to be very careful when playing football.

I strongly urge the authorities to provide a public football field for the benefit of every one, especially teenagers.

I know that most of the land in Bangsar is developed, but Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Bandaraya in Bangsar Park has a decent-sized football field. It can be opened to the public after school hours.

If we all work hand-in-hand and take the right steps, we can definitely make this a success.

In football, Malaysia is ranked 152nd in the world, when once we were one of the most feared countries in Asia.

To bring the glory in football back to Malaysia, the public must be provided with sufficient and good football fields.

I hope the authorities will work together to provide us with a football field.
