LIVE cooking, Ghazal music and songs, as well as a garden setting by the lake, are the pull at the Carousel Cafe Restaurant in the Palace of the Golden Horses this Ramadan.
And, senior citizens above the age of 55 and children aged between five and 12 have a particularly good reason to break fast here as they enjoy a 30% discount.
But, fret not if you fall into neither category, for every one else who dines at the outlet on the last three days of the fasting month will enjoy a 20% discount.
As the holy month is a time for reflection and appreciation and breaking fast is traditionally an occasion to share with family and friends, the outlet has put together an enticing buffet spread of both Malaysian and Middle Eastern delicacies.
The wide variety of traditional festive and kampung-style delights is available until Sept 20, and includes kampung-style stalls serving dishes such as Dagang Rendang ‘Tok’, Dendeng Kambing Briyani, Ketam Tumis Lada Hitam, Sambal Petai Udang, Kari Kepala Ikan Berbendi, Udang Galah Lemak Cili Padi Berebung, Sayur Campur Istimewa Bercendawan, Pucuk Paku Goreng Kampung and Kampung Hiris Masak Hijau Berterung.
But, do not leave the place without trying chef de cuisine Nazri’s Gulai Kawah Beef Rendang.
The dish is prepared and served hot so diners can enjoy the real taste, which, according to Nazri, is different from that served at other places because of the cooking style.
The dish is rotated every four days with either Chicken Rendang or Kambing Rendang.
To complete the buka puasa meal, chef Nazri and his team have prepared mouth-watering desserts such as Pengat Durian, Bubur Keledek Bersago, Serawa Ubi Kayu and a vast selection of Malay and Nyonya kuih.
Adding to the experience, diners at Carousel can, for the first time, savour Middle Eastern dishes in the Sarwa range.
For those who want a more exclusive group dining experience, the hotel offers the alternative of a tent outside Carousel for a unique venue with garden setting by the lake. The tent offers different seating arrangemens that can accommodate small and large groups of between 400 and 500 people.
The Ramadan buffet is priced at RM83++ per person.
Diners will be entertained with a Ghazal music and song performance by the Al-Dhariyat Quartet nightly except Mondays.
Meanwhile, famous local designer Michael Shu is also holding a Ramadan promotion throughout the month, so that diners can see and buy his collection to prepare themselves for Hari Raya.
Shu’s designs comprise a mid-priced range of his modern and Eastern collection of Batik chiffon apparel and Baju Melayu.
The Buka Puasa buffet is available from 7pm to 10pm nightly.
