New homes for the needy - thanks to Yayasan Bina Upaya

What say you on the issue below?

OCTOGENARIAN Siti Rafeah Hadri had been living in a dilapidated home for years, but with the efforts of Yayasan Bina Upaya (YBU) she can now stay in a comfortable new home.

Working as a rubber tapper Siti Rafeah was all smiles when she saw the newly rebuilt home in Kampung Balun Bidai, Kg Gajah.

“I’m really grateful to God and YBU for rebuilding my old rundown home,” she said, adding that she lives with her foster daughter.

Happy folk: Khairul (centre) in a group picture with Projek Infra recipients and guests at the mock key handover ceremony.

Together with three other recipients, she received her house keys from YBU deputy chairman Khairul Azwan Harun, during a special handover ceremony recently.

In his speech, Khairul said the rebuilding was carried out under YBU’s Projek Infra, launched three years ago and having already built or renovated up to 500 houses in the state.

“Single mothers, hardcore poor, orang asli and the disabled are eligible for the project, but Mentri Besar’s approval is required as it would cost us more than RM30,000 to build a new house and up to RM15,000 for renovation works to repair a dilapidated home,” he said.
