MALACCA: Martial arts star Donnie Yen, better known as Yip Man for his role in the Ip Man movies, caused a “pandemonium” when he came to town.
His fans crowded Mahkota Parade shopping centre for a glimpse of the Hong Kong star, which resulted in a two-hour traffic bottleneck in Banda Hilir here on Saturday.
He was here for the premiere of kung fu movie Ip Man 3 which also stars boxer Mike Tyson.
Yen made his appearance here with fellow cast mate Lynn Hung and producer of the film, Raymond Wong, who is popular for his goofy character in the comedy ghost movies Happy Ghost.
The trio were on a tour to promote the movie and meet-the-fans sessions.
One of their ardent followers was wheelchair-bound Tok Ai Lian, 40, who made her way through to see them.
“Despite my fractured right leg, I am not put off by coming here to see them,” said Tok, who works as an insurance agent.
“I wanted the chance to see Donnie Yen up close,” she added.
Ip Man 3 will be screened nationwide on Dec 24.
