THE Raja Tun Uda Library in Shah Alam has become the first one in Malaysia to incorporate a multi-sensory 6D cinema hall that provides a fun learning experience.
It is the first in the world to have a 6D cinema hall housed in a library.
The library is managed by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS).
All this has become possible because of the vision of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who in 2005 declined to have a monument built in Shah Alam for the declaration of a developed state but instead wanted a library in Section 13 as a gift for the people.
On Saturday 9.30am, Sultan Sharafuddin will launch the six-storey library where he will contribute 1,200 English language books.
PPAS director Mastura Muhamad said they now had become the first library to house this unique cinema hall that used the latest technology to bring viewers a truly memorable and fun experience.
“Using Canadian technology, the cinema hall provides a six-dimensional movie experience.
Mastura said the eight-seater cinema had moveable seats which can sway, tilt and move sideways.
“All the motions plus the 3D effect will enable you to be part of the five-minute experience.
“The viewers will feel all the sensations like heat, cold and wind blowing on your face during a scene of a roller-coaster ride or gliding along a rickety rail line in a canyon,” she said.
Mastura said along with the movements syncronised to the scenes in the movie, the bass vibrators gave a life-like appeal.
“The luxury seats are also equipped with special personalised dual-speaker systems to give the ultimate feel of reality.
“With all the special effect features, viewers go through ‘real life’ scenarios.
“Apart form the 6D cinema hall, we have also incorporated gyms for women, men and a common one. Having a gym will encourage people to exercise before or after reading. We want the libraries to become an incredible resource for the community,” she said.
Mastura added that the people in Selangor had the Sultan to thank for the unique library.
