MUAR: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) should not politicise the Auditor-General’s report on fund management by the relevant ministries, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim.
He said the report was the Government’s transparency policy in how the country’s funds were managed annually.
Speaking to reporters, he said the Opposition had used the report to criticise the Government of fund mismanagement.
“I want the people to know the Government is very transparent in managing the nation’s funds.
“The Opposition should not boast and make the report an issue,” he said after a mass-circumcision programme involving 60 boys in Parit Bakar here recently.
Razali said the report also showed the Government did not control any agency, commission or department.
He said the AG’s office was under the Government’s jurisdiction unlike the Election Commission.
He said the Government could hide the report from public knowledge but it practiced transparency and made the report public.
“All this while the Opposition says the Government controls the judiciary system and dictates the courts’ decisions.
“If we do that, we can always hide the AG’s report,” he said.
Earlier, Razali sprayed water on 60 boys aged between nine and 12 before their circumcision at the Parit Bakar Health Clinic.
The mass-circumcision programme was organised by several parties, including the Muar Fire Services and Rescue Department which provided a fire engine to hose down the boys.
“In the old days the boys, would dip in the wells or creeks in the morning before the circumcision.
“Today we use a hose from the fire engine to spray water on the boys. Mass-circumcision also helps to ease their fears,” he added.
