Tennis fans set for a special treat

MALAYSIAN tennis fans will get the chance to meet Fernando Gonzalez at the Starbucks in KLCC (ground floor) on Monday at 6pm.

The meet-the-fans session was initiated by Starbucks Coffee in conjunction with the Proton Malaysian Open tennis championship at the Putra Stadium.

Gonzalez, now ranked 12th on the ATP Single, will sign autographs and pick the lucky Starbucks receipt in the lucky draw contest. The winner will receive an autographed tennis racquet and will have their photo taken with Gonzalez.

To take part in the lucky draw, customers must write their name and IC number on their Starbucks receipt for beverages or food bought throughout the day from 9am to 5.45pm on Monday and drop it in the lucky draw box at Starbucks KLCC (ground floor).

Ready for action: Gonzalez will be meeting his fans on Monday.

However, the winning customer has to be present to receive their prize when Gonzalez makes his appearance at Starbucks KLCC.

Gonzalez’s career highlights include reaching the final at the Australian Open 2007, the semi-finals at the French Open 2009, the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2005 and the US Open quarter-finals in 2002.

He has also won a bronze medal in the singles at the Athen Olympics as well as a gold (doubles) and silver (singles) in the Beijing Olympics,

Throughout his career, Gonzalez has defeated many top players including Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moyà, Gustavo Kuerten, Marat Safin and Pete Sampras.
